Mitsooz Launches Story-Driven Platform for Original Art and Artist Narratives
Mitsooz has officially launched as a story-driven platform for original art centered on artist narratives, studio provenance, and preserving the connection between the artist’s studio and the home.
Mitsooz has officially launched as a story-driven platform for original art centered on artist narratives, studio provenance, and preserving the connection between the artist’s studio and the home. The platform debuts with a Founding Collective of independent artists and studios working across the United States.
Created in response to an increasingly transactional online art experience, Mitsooz is built around the belief that original work should not be separated from the artist who made it. As more collectors discover and acquire art through digital platforms, the context surrounding a creative practice is often lost.
Founded by Starah Dixon, Mitsooz was created to bridge the gap between the artist’s studio and the modern home through a more intentional collecting experience, while helping make original art feel more accessible to wider audiences.
For Mitsooz, provenance begins before acquisition. It begins in the studio.
Preserving the Artist Narrative
For many collectors, discovering original art online can feel flattened. A work appears as an image, a title, a price, and a checkout button. The artist’s voice often disappears behind the mechanics of the transaction.
Mitsooz was created to challenge that pattern.
Rather than separating the work from its maker, Mitsooz preserves the broader context surrounding the artist, allowing collectors to build a deeper connection to the people, perspectives, and practices behind the work.
“Every artist has a narrative, and understanding that narrative changes how we experience the work,” says Starah Dixon, Founder of Mitsooz. “Our goal is to preserve the connection between artists and collectors while making original art more accessible through context, conversation, and understanding.”
A Story-Driven Platform for Original Art
The launch introduces the platform’s inaugural Founding Collective, bringing together original paintings, contemporary sculpture, photography, and works on paper from independent artists and studios across the United States.
Each artist is presented through more than a traditional gallery listing. Through Studio Dialogues, artist profiles, editorial features, and studio narratives, collectors gain insight into the experiences, processes, and perspectives that shape each creator’s body of work.
The platform’s mission extends beyond presentation. Mitsooz seeks to make original art more approachable by providing greater context and transparency around the artists and practices behind the work. In doing so, it creates a more welcoming entry point for those interested in collecting original art while deepening the experience for established collectors.
The Founding Collective
At launch, Mitsooz presents a Founding Collective of nine artists and studios:
- Aida Auyelbekova
- Andrée Brown
- Carol Roark
- Charles Buckley
- Holly McWhorter
- Kari Bell
- Kevin Cross
- Nersel Muehlen
- Ruth Wall
Together, the collective spans expressive abstraction, botanical watercolor, sculpture, figurative work, landscape-driven painting, photography, and material-led studio practices. While each artist brings a distinct visual language to the platform, they share a commitment to intentional creation, artistic integrity, and original work.
Studio Provenance From the Beginning
Mitsooz is built for collectors, interior designers, and art-focused homes seeking a deeper connection to the work they acquire.
Through studio-direct fulfillment, curated presentation, and narrative-led discovery, each work remains connected to its source. Collectors gain insight into the artist’s perspective, creative process, and the broader practice from which the work emerged.
The goal is not simply to help people acquire original art. The goal is to help them better understand the artists behind the work and create a more meaningful connection between the studio and the home.
