White Oak Leaf
A Bespoke Dimensional Work
The Majesty of Endurance.
Nature is a point of departure, not a template. The White Oak (Quercus alba) is a global symbol of strength, longevity, and unyielding resilience: a keystone species that stands as the silent observer of centuries. In "White Oak Leaf," Andrée Brown translates the monumental energy of this botanical giant into the 5,000-year historical permanence of bronze. Hand-formed during her residency in Marnay-Sur-Seine, France, this piece captures the rhythmic, rounded lobes of the leaf with an architectural clarity that feels both grounded and ethereal. Rooted in the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-sabi, the sculpture is intended to be a full-sensory experience: the "front" and "back" offer distinct tactile landscapes, celebrating the beautiful irregularities found on the forest floor.
The Intelligence of Flow.
Drawing from her twenty-year discipline as a professional jeweler and chef, Brown approaches her master-level bronze works through a conscious practice of uninhibited flow. This piece was born from a state of curiosity and instinctive making: a return to the same sense of presence and play once experienced in childhood. Every vein and contour was meticulously hand-refined in wax before being transitioned into 15 lbs of solid bronze through the traditional lost-wax method. The deep, mottled studio patina manages the movement of light across the surface, creating an atmospheric vibration that changes as the viewer moves around the form. It is a rigorous record of resonance: a permanent home for the ephemeral beauty of the world.
Bespoke Acquisition & Lead Time Note:
