The Narrative.

(Un)Certain Feelings
An Original Striated Ink Drawing

The Architecture of Forgetting.
A silhouette on a shoreline, a shadow stretching across the sand, a moment nearly captured: nature is a point of departure, not a template. In "(Un)Certain Feelings," Charles Buckley investigates the area where a memory cannot be rationally explained, yet fits perfectly within the logic of the page. This original striated drawing operates on the belief that forgetting is a necessary component of remembering. From a distance, the eye bridges the gaps between the hand-drawn ink lines to create narrative clarity. However, as the collector approaches the work, that clarity fractures into a stark, rhythmic vibration of ink and negative space.

The Mechanics of Perception.
Based in Brooklyn and exhibiting extensively with the Susan Eley Gallery, Buckley utilizes a meticulous application of horizontal acrylic ink lines to mimic the visual language of CRT television sets. This "analog digitalism" was first sparked by the artist's discovery of his father’s 1969 moon landing photographs. In "(Un)Certain Feelings," the sepia-toned ink generates a profound emotional charge through what is not drawn. This 16x14 framed work is a rigorous mnemonic investigation, proving that the gaps in our history are just as potent as the information we keep.
