In "Headlights," Charles Buckley captures the visceral, almost blinding sensation of a car approaching through the mist or the deep night. It is a moment defined by high-contrast light and the "vibration" of the road. From a distance, the brain instantly identifies the two glowing orbs as a vehicle. The Mechanics of Perception.
